Editing

Open a video you own and click Edit. Edits never change the original recording: the player skips the parts you cut, and you can bring them back at any time.

Quick edits

Under your video's title, Quick edits cleans it up in one click each:

  • Remove filler words cuts the ums and uhs, and stutters like "the the".
  • Shorten pauses tightens long silences to a natural beat and trims the quiet before you start and after you finish.
  • Cut bad takes removes false starts and retakes, like a sentence you restart after "sorry, let me say that again". Sonvo finds them when it writes the summary; on older videos, click Find bad takes.

Each one saves straight away and shows how much shorter the video got. Undo brings that group back. Cuts land on quiet moments, so nothing clicks or clips a word.

Clean up, one by one

The Clean up tab in the editor lists every suggestion with the words around it, grouped by kind. Tick the ones you want, press ▶ to hear a spot as it will sound, then Apply and Save. "You know", "I mean" and unclear sounds are listed too, unticked.

Trim and cut

  • Drag the handles at either end of the timeline to trim the start and end.
  • Select a range on the timeline and click Cut selection to remove it.
  • Each cut shows as a chip under the timeline. Click its × to restore that part.

Edit with the transcript

  • Select words in the transcript and click Cut selected words.
  • Click a crossed-out word to bring it back.

Undo (⌘Z) steps back. Click Save when you're done. The link stays the same, and the new length, captions and chapters follow your edits.

Screens

A video recorded with All screens keeps every screen in full, so you can choose what people see after recording. Under the timeline, the Screens lane shows which screen is on when. Pale stretches follow your mouse on their own; solid ones are ones you picked.

  • Drag across the lane, or click a stretch, then pick Follow cursor, Side by side or one screen for that part.
  • Follow cursor or Side by side at the top sets how the rest of the video shows.
  • Zoom on clicks moves in closer around each click and eases back out. The small marks on the lane are your clicks.

Screen choices go into the same undo history and Save as your cuts. Nothing is re-recorded, so you can change them any time.

Voice-over

Open the Voice-over tab in the editor to record narration over the video after the fact.

  1. Choose Voice, or Camera + voice for a camera bubble too, and allow your microphone (and camera).
  2. Start recording. The video plays while you talk, after a short countdown.
  3. Review the take and save it. You can mute the original audio while the voice-over plays.

With a camera voice-over, drag the bubble to the corner you want. Viewers see and hear it on the same link. The voice-over is transcribed too. You can record it again or remove it from the same tab.
