Getting started

Sonvo records your screen, camera and voice on your Mac and gives you a link the moment you stop. People watch in their browser, with no app or account needed.

Install the Mac app

  1. Go to Download and get Sonvo.dmg. It needs macOS 15 or later and runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. Open the file and drag Sonvo into Applications.
  3. Open Sonvo. It lives in your menu bar, not the Dock.

Sonvo opens your browser to sign in or create an account, with your email or Google. Finish there and come back: the app picks up the sign-in on its own.

Allow permissions

The setup window shows each permission with a button to turn it on.

  • Screen Recording lets Sonvo see your screen while recording. macOS asks you to turn Sonvo on in System Settings and then restart Sonvo.
  • Microphone puts your voice in the video.
  • Camera is optional. It's for the round camera bubble.

macOS may ask about screen recording again about once a month. That's a macOS rule for screen recorders, not something Sonvo controls.

Record your first video

  1. Click the Sonvo icon in the menu bar and choose Start recording, or press ⌥⇧L anywhere.
  2. After a 3, 2, 1 countdown, Sonvo is recording. Talk through what you're showing.
  3. Press ⌥⇧L again, or click Stop and share in the control bar.

Your video uploads while you record, so the link works right away. Sonvo copies it and opens the video in your browser. The transcript, a title and a summary follow within about a minute.

Find your videos

Sign in at sonvo.co to see your library: every video you've recorded or uploaded, with search, folders and your team workspaces. The menu bar panel also lists your recent videos.
