Sharing and privacy

Every video and file share has one link. These controls are on its page, under the player.

Who can watch

Open the More menu and choose Who can watch.

  • Anyone with the link is the default. No account is needed to watch.
  • People in a workspace limits it to members of the workspace the video is shared to. Members can watch and comment, nobody else.
  • Only you stops the link working for everyone else.

Copy link copies the address. The arrow next to it has more:

  • Copy for AI copies the whole video as text (summary, chapters, transcript and comments) to paste into Claude or ChatGPT.
  • Copy embed code copies an iframe for your docs or website. The video has to be set to Anyone with the link.
  • Open as Markdown opens that same text in a new tab. See For AI agents.

A Sonvo link pasted into Slack, iMessage, Teams, Discord or LinkedIn shows the video's title, summary and thumbnail. To have videos play right in Slack, add Sonvo for Slack to your workspace once: after that, a shared Sonvo link shows a player in the channel or DM. It doesn't need a Sonvo account, so for another company's Slack, send them sonvo.co/slack/add: one click adds it. If their workspace needs an admin to approve new apps, Slack sends the admin the request. Only videos anyone with the link can watch get a preview or a player; private and workspace-only videos stay a plain link.

Comments and reactions

Signed-in viewers can comment at the moment they paused on, reply to comments and react with an emoji. Comments show as markers on the timeline. You get an email when someone comments on your video, and people get one when someone replies to them.

Call-to-action button

Add a button like "Book a call" or "Try it" from More, then Add call to action. It shows under the video and on the screen at the end.

Thumbnail

Choose Change thumbnail to use the frame on screen now, or upload an image (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB).

Branding

On Pro, set up your brand once under Brand in your account menu, and every video you share shows it, including ones you've already sent. Recordings aren't changed, so you can change it any time.

  • Logo in a corner of the video, or as a small badge on your camera bubble, with a size and opacity.
  • Background behind side-by-side screens, around videos that don't fill the frame, and on the intro and outro: a colour preset, two colours of your own, or an image.
  • Intro and outro: a title card Sonvo makes (the video's title and your name, or a message and a button with a link) or a clip of your own, up to 20 seconds. Viewers can skip them.
  • Accent colour for the outro button.

Workspaces have their own brand, set by the workspace's admins. A video shared to a workspace shows the workspace's brand; otherwise it shows its owner's. You can turn branding off for one video from its menu, unless an admin has set the workspace brand to Always on. Members can see the workspace brand but not change it.

Videos recorded on all screens

People watching can switch the view with the screens button in the player: Auto (as you set it up), Side by side, or one screen. Their choice only changes their own view.

Download

Download saves the video as an MP4. It's the original recording, without edits.

For a video recorded on all screens, Download video makes an MP4 of the edited video as it plays: the screens, the glides between them, the close-ups and your camera, with your cuts left out. It's made in your browser (Chrome or Safari) and takes less time than the video is long.

Who watched

The view count under the title is a button for the owner. It lists the names of signed-in viewers and how many people watched without signing in.
